Earlier last month, Tim and I stopped by Villicana Winery for lunch. While they don’t normally serve any food, along with neighbors Alta Colina Winery and Paso Robles caterer Chef Jeff Scott, the Villicanas are hosting Burger Sundays through September. Every other Sunday, Chef Scott prepares gourmet hamburgers (or portobello mushroom burgers, which is what I got) and a great live band comes out. Our schedule has been so up in the air with moving that we knew we had to stop by while we are still in Paso, and we didn’t regret it!

The burgers were topped with gruyere and caramelized onions, and they came on a perfect brioche bun with a mixed greens salad on the side. We paired ours with Villicana Grenache, although their amazing Rose was tempting on a warm summer day. The next one is this Sunday, August 4. If you’re a local or visiting the area, this is a quick, unique lunch stop just 10 minutes out of downtown Paso Robles.
