{Here we are – in the San Francisco Chronicle!}

Tim and I recently had the amazing opportunity to attend the San Francisco premiere of Citizen Hearst, a documentary chronicling William Randolph Hearst and the media empire that he built. Directed by Leslie Iwerks (who also made The Pixar Story), the movie was incredibly fun to watch and I learned so much about such an iconic American figure.

The premiere was held at the Palace of the Legion of Honor, which is a beautiful building that was completed in 1924. It is a replica of a building in Paris that housed a German prince and was later taken over by Napoleon – in San Francsico, the building was created to be an art museum, which is it to this day. It houses a charming, intimate 230-seat movie theatre, which is where the screening took place.

The evening started off with a cocktail hour in one of the wings of the museum. It was complete with Hearst Ranch wines and beef (and my personal favorite, mini lobster rolls), and was followed by the screening of the movie. After the movie, we were greeted with fresh Cucumber Vodka Gimlets, and then we went out to the courtyard of the Palace, which was tented and set up as a beautiful lounge area. Following a light buffet dinner, we were surprised with a performance by Tony Bennett, who was absolutely amazing.

It was an evening straight out of a dream, and I feel so blessed that we were able to attend such a fabulous event.
